Otis Oram Matteson, age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at McLaren Flint Hospital in Flint, MI. He was born on September 25, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Mark and Mabel (Oram) Matteson. Otis lived in West Branch since 1976 previously of Pinckney.
Otis served in the United States Army from 1951 – 1959. He was a member of the West Branch Masonic Lodge #376, Pinckney Masonic Lodge #76 and the Rose City Lions Club. He enjoyed to camp and loved volunteering for hospice of helping hands and the Pinckney Fire Department.
Otis is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Dolores Smith-Matteson of Flint; daughter, Teresa Strong of AZ; stepson Michael (Sandra) Soring of Copper City; grandchildren, Dawn Haines and Michael Haines; great grandchildren, Aiden and Connor; brothers, James (Norma) Matteson and Dwight (Joyce) Matteson. Otis is also survived by his special family, Carl and Shirley Buck and their family, stepchildren Kathryn Dolan, Sandra (David) Josling, David Smith, Lori Miller, and many step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn, second wife, Donna, son, Timothy, siblings, Milton. Kenneth, Montgomery, June, his parents, and a stepson Joseph Smith.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 11 to 1 PM. A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home with veteran’s honors.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Rose City Lions or the Oak Grove Log Church.
