Norbert Walter Bidus, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Gladwin, MI. He had lived in Prescott, MI since 1992, formerly of Allen Park, MI. Norbert was born on June 5, 1930 in Detroit to Stanley and Theresa (Pujdowski) Bidus. On May 12, 1956, he married Mary Itoney in Detroit. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War from 1948 to 1951. Norbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Stephen Catholic Church in Prescott. He was a big supporter of the Arbor Foundation and loved planting trees and taking care of the environment. Norbert was a handy man and enjoyed gardening and feeding and watching the birds.
Norbert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Bidus of Prescott, MI; sons, Michael (Elisa) Bidus of Brighton, MI and Matt Bidus of Allen Park, MI; grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Calahan and Logan; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harry Bidus, Ray Bidus and Marvin Bidus; and sister, Virginia Siemiontkowski.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Prescott at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Branch. Father Joseph Ortega will officiate.
