Nelson “Jim” Feirer, age 83 of West Branch, passed away Monday June 28, 2010 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Jim had lived in the West Branch area since 1960. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during the end of WW II and the Korean War. He was a past member of the Eagles of West Branch, past president local Muscular Dystrophy Association, a member of the American Legion Post #103, West Branch and a volunteer for the W.B. Fire Department for over 10 years. He was employed by the K.J. Chadwick Inc. for several years and he retired from the City of West Branch after many years of service. Jim is survived by his wife Elsie of West Branch, children, James Feirer (Maria Rohrig) of Anchorville, Brian (Denise) Feirer of Traverse City, Kevin (Connie) Feirer of Fraser, Elizabeth (Ed) Peszko and Dawn (Terry) Green both of West Branch and 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Jeri Boye of California and his step-sister Jeanne Toy of Grosse Pointe. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Walstead, granddaughter, Kristy Garflund and his parents, Nelson and Edith Feirer. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 4-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Paul Klassen, Pastor Bob Mohr and Dale Peters will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Brooksville Weslyan Church Building Fund in Brooksville, FL.
