Nelson E. Smith

Nelson E. Smith, age 51 of Alger, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends. Nelson had been a resident of the Alger-West Branch area for all of his life. He was the owner and operator of D & N Garage in Alger since 1987. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and fishing. Nelson is survived by his wife, Teresa Smith of Alger, children, Trista Smith (Michael Spencer) and David Smith (Tanya Dale) both of Alger, grandchildren Isabella and Mason, his mother, Doris Smith of Alger, his brothers, Vern (Janet) Smith and Jerry (Kathy) Smith both of Alger and Patrick (Julie) Miller of Burton, his sisters, Debbie Craft of Grand Blanc, Diane Craft of Mt. Morris, Lorie (Dwayne) DeVault and Vicky (Clay) Rogers both of Roscommon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Norman Smith, his mother Illah Smith, 2 brothers, David Smith and Norman Smith Jr. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home will begin on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 3-9 p.m. On Thursday, Nelson will lie in state at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bob Mohr, Rev.
