Michael Joseph Green

Michael Joseph Green, age 75, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at his home in West Branch, MI surrounded by his family. He was born on November 3, 1947, in St. Paul, MN to Glenn and Wynn (Jones) Green. He has lived in West Branch since he was 11 years old formerly of Big Rapids, MI.

Mike was a wartime Army Vietnam Veteran, who served proudly and loved his country.

Mike has been in trucking over 50 years. He hauled crude oil from Oceola Refinery, and owned and operated Northland Forest Products. He also ran Michigan Log Truck, worked for TR Timber, and was an owner and operator for over five years, working with his son, at Stone Transport. He was known to everyone as “Papa Green”.

Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed doing those things with his family, and spending precious, quality time with them. He was always working on something either mechanical or wood projects.

He had a great sense of humor and touched a ton of lives. He always had a joke and smile. Mike had an amazing work ethic that he passed on to his family. He was a hero to many.

Mike is survived by his fiancé Colleen Williams and her son Austin Kramer; daughter Elisa (Chris) Dack; son Eric (Michelle) Green; grandchildren Olivia Dack, Sawyer Dack, River Dack, Keegan (Wiktoria) Hillier, and Colton (Ashley Obershaw) Hillier; great grandchildren Oswald and Silas Hillier; siblings Charles (Diane) Green, Marianne (Alan Gildner) Bartlett, and Terry (Dawn) Green.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara DeWeese.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate. Burial will follow at Ogemaw Springs Cemetery.
