Melvin W. Merleno, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Horizon Senior Living in St. Helen. He was born on January 5, 1935 in Detroit to Walter and Agnes (Kostera) Merleno. Melvin lived in St. Helen since 1991, formerly of Howell. He retired from Voylite as a plant manager in the Detroit area in 1983. He was a member of the St. Helen Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 8390 in St. Helen, Sons of American Legion 416 and an associate member of the Vietnam Chapter in Howell. Melvin enjoyed volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul in Roscommon and working on puzzles.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Judith Merleno; children, Mary, Matthew, Mike (Cyndi), Martin and Maurice (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Kim; and many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, James, son, Mark, and sister, Camille (Norman) Lamex.
A private family funeral mass will be held at the St. Helen Catholic Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in St. Helen. Father Wayne Dziekan and Sister Barbara Matievich O.P. will officiate.
