August 7, 1953 — July 20, 2011

Melvin Roy Hatfield age 57 of St. Helen, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home. Roy enjoyed collecting Nascar, Coca Cola, Spong Bob, spending time with his family, computer games, and loved the Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines. He was a Firefighter and the drummer in a band known as “Freddy and the Country Boys”. Roy is survived by wife, Diane Hatfield of St. Helen, daughter, Tonya (Dennis) McAlpine of Alger, son, Robert (Kim Grayway) Hatfield of Petoskey, daughter, Kelly Hatfield of St. Helen, brother, Roger (Becky) Hatfield of Hopkinsville Kentucky, brother, Jim (Angie) Hatfield of McBride, MI and brother, Jerry (Brenda) Hatfield of Eagle, MI. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Alan, Sean, Hunter, Aaron, Brandon, Justin, Brianna, and Madison. Roy is preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Jeanette Hatfield, and grandson, Caleb Wood. As of Roy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the VFW Hall on Lake Street in St. Helen at 4:00 pm with a luncheon following. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hatfield family.
