Melvin George Koch

Melvin George Koch, age 88, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home in St. Helen, MI. He was born on July 31, 1929 in Detroit, MI. Melvin has been a full time resident of St. Helen since 1990, when he retired from Ford Motor Company. In 1972, he purchased property in St. Helen and spent every weekend enjoying the area. He would then travel back to his home in Detroit to go to work at Ford as a Design Engineer where he put in over 40 years. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in West Branch. Melvin enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and boating. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years.

Melvin is survived by goddaughter, Dawn Steckling of St. Helen, and his grandkids Autumn Arnold, Thomas Arnold, Madasun Rosenthal, Grace Rosenthal, and Ema-lee Swinson. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sons, Carl and Kenny Koch.

Melvin’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest next to his two sons’ in St. Helen.
