Melissa Elaine Vanwormer

Melissa Elaine VanWormer, age 49, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She lived in Traverse City, MI since 2018 formerly of West Branch, MI.

Melissa was born on August 7, 1972 in Frankfurt, Germany to Otis and Priscilla (Benjamin) VanWormer.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, coloring, traveling, fishing, and helping others in need. She was a member of the Yellow Ribbon Society and NorthWoods Animal Coalition.

Melissa is survived by her daughter, Caitlin McAfee of Shawano, WI; son, Calvin McAfee of West Branch; sisters, Marcia and Mechelle VanWormer; nephew, Andrew Minney; grandnephew, Malcom Minney; ex-husband, Mickey McAfee of West Branch; and boyfriend, Larry Finkbeiner of Reed City, MI.

She is preceded in death by her parents and nephew, JJ Scott.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
