Mckinley W. Schrumpf

McKinley W. Schrumpf, age 84, of West Branch, passed away at The Brook retirement community on January 12, 2013. Mac was born March 29, 1928 in Hart, MI. He served in the army military police during the Korean Conflict. He married Vyrl Ann Bornemann, on May 23, 1953 in Antigo, WI. Ann preceded him in death on December 6, 2012. Mac retired as a detective after 30 years of service with the Muskegon Police Department. Mac and Ann moved to West Branch in 2008 to be near family. They became associate members of St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch and were long time members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon. At Trinity, he served as an usher and on the Board of Elders. Mac was an accomplished woodworker, enjoyed working outdoors, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Mac Schrumpf is survived by his children, Susan Schrumpf of Traverse City, Steven (Jami) Schrumpf of West Branch and David Schrumpf (Charles) of Ann Arbor, and grandchildren Jenna and Sean. Also surviving are his sister-in-laws Carmel Schrumpf of Sault Ste. Marie and Arleen Bubon of Antigo, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents William and Evelyn, and brothers Thomas and Elwood. The family would like to thank Rev. Howard Travis of St. John, the director and staff of The Brook, Home Health Care Nurse Angie of District Health Department #2, Hospice of Helping Hands and Dobson Health Care. Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon and Hospice of Helping Hands in West Branch. A Memorial Service and burial will take place at a later date.
