Maxine Ruth Basgall, age 92, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at The Villa at West Branch. She had lived in West Branch for the past 60 years, formerly of the Chicago, IL area. She was born to Ira and Bessie (Carpenter) Getty in Waterloo, IA on October 20, 1923. Maxine was a member at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch. She enjoyed camping, knitting, crocheting, singing in the choir, cooking, and playing Bingo, cards and games. She had a large family and dedicated her life to her family.
Maxine is survived by her children, Maxine Mahal of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Basgall of Grand Ledge, MI, Diane (Daniel) Corcoran of Montrose, MI, Elizabeth (Leith) Curtis of Dimondale, MI, Mary Ann Wiles of Findlay, OH, Andrew (Kathleen) Basgall of Georgetown, KY, Robert (Elon) Basgall of Alger, MI and Judith (Michael) Wiles of Gladwin, MI; and 82 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew Basgall, son, Howard Basgall, grandson, Keith Curtis, and son in laws, James Mahal and Dwayne Wiles.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 12:00 PM with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of Mass. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. Burial will follow at Alger Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the MS Society and the Crohn’s Foundation.
