Mary Margaret Wolszon

March 10, 1962 — April 3, 2025

Prescott, MI

Mary Wolszon was born on March 10, 1962, in Kalamazoo MI and raised by her parents, Clarence and Martha Wolszon, in Standish MI. Mary cherished her small-town life. As a child, Mary spent her days learning to grow and tend to her family's large gardens, traveling with her family, and participating in numerous groups and community activities. Mary and her family were very active in the community including time as a Girl Scout, many years of dedicated faith to the Catholic Church, and her time at Standish-Sterling schools where she formed the deep and lasting friendships which were paramount to her throughout her life.

While a young mother, Mary finished high school and while working and raising a family, she attended Delta College and SVSU ultimately earning her bachelor's degree. Mary was an avid reader, an intellectual deep thinker, and invited into the Mensa organization while in college. Mary never lost her love for flowers or gardening and many of her happiest moments were spent pulling weeds and talking with her children or grandkids.

Mary was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer in early November while being treated for pneumonia. Her final months were spent in the care of her loving family who are grateful for that time and her show of dignity and strength through such tenuous circumstances. Mary passed away peacefully in the University of Michigan Hospital on Thursday, April 3, 2025, with her children there to see her through.

Preceded in death by her parents Clarence Wolszon and Martha Wolszon (Machu).

Mary is survived by brother, Armand Wolszon; son, Jacob and LeeAnna (Dunn) Richards; daughter, Jessica Richards; son, Nathan Dinsmore; daughter, Amber Dinsmore; and grandchildren, Brooke, Ethan, BrieAnna, Jack, and Ayla.

Mary's children would like to thank the staff at U of M Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our mother and the support they offered us in our time of need. We would also like to thank LeeAnna for her dedication to our family. Your spiritual guidance throughout this process has been a blessing and we are grateful for the friendship and fellowship you shared with our mother especially during these last few difficult months.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
