Passed to her eternal reward on August 7, 2011 at the home of her son Michael, in Gladwin, Michigan. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, Theodore F. Fournier Sr. She was born June 22, 1930 in Detroit, MI. She was a resident of West Branch, MI from 1971 until she moved to Spokane, WA, in 1981. She was a graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, MI in 1952. As a final professed Third Order Franciscan, she was known as Sr. Clare Marie. A staunch defender of the Catholic Church, she headed the group “Concerned Catholics” throughout the 1960’s. She did extensive work with the Blue Army and the Legion of Mary, in the Detroit, MI area. From 1964 through 1970 she was a CCD teacher at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Clawson, MI, and Holy Family Catholic Church in Detroit, MI. From 1967 to 1971 she authored the spiritual lesson for each Sunday bulletin, typeset and printed the bulletins, for Holy Family Parish in Detroit, MI. She was also a very active member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by her seven children: Theodore Fournier, Jr. of Garden City, MI; Katherine Marson of Hayward, WI; Michael Fournier of Gladwin, MI; Reverend Mother Marie de Montfort (Mary) of Spokane Valley, WA; Andrew Fournier of West Branch, MI; Margaret Boyer of Spokane Valley, WA; and Anne Hardin of Taylor, MI; 23 grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Steurernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI on August 9, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Arrangements have been made with Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home in Spokane, WA for her Rosary, Requiem Mass and burial. She will be buried from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3914 N. Lidgerwood St., Spokane, WA. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, beside her husband, at 17825 E. Trent, Spokane Valley, WA.
