Mary Lois Sutton, age 90, died Tuesday morning, June 24, 2014. She was born in Bay City, Michigan on May 29, 1924 to Harry and Marjorie (Priddy) White. Mary attended West Branch County Normal and taught at the Hamacher County School. She worked at the Defoe Shipbuilding Company before serving in the Women's Army Corps. She married Cameron Sutton on August 2, 1943, who predeceased her on December 7, 1997. Mary is survived by five daughters, Cam (Terry) Steckling, Chris (Jim) Janisch, Cheryl (Don) Parker, Kay (Mike) Shaltz and Susan Sutton (Patrick Cunningham), eleven grandchildren (Kimberly, Jason, Christopher, Jodi, Tyson, Katie, Jamie, Jesse, Samantha, Matthew and Megan) and four great-grandchildren (Jack, Isabel, Noah and Samuel). Mary is also survived by her brother, Ed White, and her sister, Anna Mae Goff. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Dunn and Evelyn Rau, and her brothers, Harry White and Fred White. Mary loved her girls, her family, her church, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, traveling and fishing. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at the First United Methodist Church, West Branch, Michigan. Interment will be at Edwards Township Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27 at the Steuernol McLaren Funeral Home and between 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, West Branch.
