Marvin E. Morse, Sr.

May 5, 1932 — February 25, 2006

Marvin E. Morse, Sr., age 73, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Mr. Morse resided in West Branch since 1986, formerly of Mt. Morris. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church serving as an usher, a Clear Lake Fire Department volunteer for 18 years, member of the Ogemaw County Sheriffs Posse for 18 years, served as President of Ten Lakes Sportsman Club, member of the Ogemaw County U.S. Severe Storm Spotter Team, member of Ogemaw Hills Snowmobile Club and member of the U.S. Army gunner crew that fired the first atomic shell in 1953. Marvin enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren and all outdoor activities. Surviving family members include wife Dorothy of 49 years; daughter Terri Lynn (Jamie) Latimer of Mt. Morris, son Marvin Eugene II of Jackson, daughter Robin (Milton) Lotridge of Montrose, son Michael Whitman (Christine) of Mt. Morris; grandchildren Marvin III, Matthew, Krystal, Nicholas, Angela, T.J., Rozlyn and Ed and great-grandchildren Ethan and Sydney. Also surviving Marvin are his brother Ronald (Helen) Morse of Mt. Morris, sister Joyce (Frank) Thayer of Clio, twin sister Marilyn Beach of Grand Blanc and brother LaVern (Janet) Morse of Genesee. Preceding Marvin in death were his parents Whitman and Treasure Morse and best friend Archie Flamez. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Monday, February 27, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch with Pastor Tom Teall officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
