Marlene L. Herod

Marlene L. Balko-Herod, age 50 of Boca Raton, FL passed suddenly away at her home Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Marlene had lived in Boca Raton since 2004, formerly Michigan and Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boca Raton, the National Humane Society and PETA. Marlene is survived by her siblings, William Balko of Saginaw, Elaine (Merl) Miller of Alger, Diana Balko of Gladwin and Michael (Darla) Balko Sr. of Gladwin, her nephews Jonathan Carr, Jeffery Miller, Jeremy Miller and Joshua Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Balko. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ogemaw County Humane Society.
