Mark Edward Anthes, age 50, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Oscoda, MI. He was born on May 25, 1966 to Michael Henson and Linda Shiltz. As a child Mark was adopted by Robert and Carolyn Anthes. Marked lived in West Branch, MI for many years. He was very proud that he could live on his own, in his own apartment at the Senior Center. He loved to walk around town, talking to people along his way, and make his stop at the coffee shop. Mark loved to watch wrestling and spend time with his family. He also loved listening to music and enjoyed attending the music concerts held at Iron’s Park in the summer months. Mark won a lot of medals for track and field and a few for bowling with the Special Olympics.
Mark is survived by his adopted family, mother, Carolyn Anthes; sisters, Tiffany and Stacey; and brothers, John and Paul. He is also survived by his birth family, sisters, Cynthia (Ted) Neaves, Becky (Greg) Parsons, and Barbara Harrison; 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his adopted father, Robert Anthes; birth brother, Michael J. Henson Jr. and birth sister, Christine Peterson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m.
