Mark A. Smithmier

Mark A. Smithmier, age 45, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at MidMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI. He was born on August 10, 1972 in Wayne, MI to Gary and Mary (Kabara) Smithmier. Mark served in the Army in Somalia. He loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and Star War Legos. He enjoyed raising his ducks and chickens, hunting, fishing, working on his mustang, and spending time with his family.

Mark is survived by his wife, Kimberly Smithmier; three children, Kaliah Kotrys, Beck Smithmier, and Mark Smithmier Jr.; mother, Mary Kabara; mother in law, Linda Kotrys; brother, Billy Smithmier; Army brothers, “Right of the Line”; beloved best friend, Charlotte Beavers; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Smithmier.

Military Honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
