Marjorie L. Seltz

May 25, 1937 — May 27, 2009

Marjorie L. Raymond Seltz, 72, of West Branch, passed away peacefully at Bay Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 after fighting complications of emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Marge was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph High School and lived in West Branch with her husband, Elmer, since the early 1960’s. She worked diligently throughout her life – as a farm wife, a telephone operator, at Tolfree Memorial Hospital, at the Surline Elementary and Junior High Library, and the local bicycle factory, where she painted tricycles. She retired from GTE Valeron in West Branch as a laboratory supervisor and leader. More importantly than her career, she loved spending time with family and friends at Indian Lake, reading, yard sales and dabbling at drawing and painting. She especially treasured spending time with her dear granddaughter, Blaire Seltz. Survivors are her husband, Elmer C. Seltz of West Branch; her children, Vicki Seltz Barnes and Brian Seltz, and son in law Ken Barnes, all of West Branch; and son in law Dave Wiley of Jackson, Georgia. She was also a great role model to grandchildren Blaire Seltz of West Branch and Bret Bixler of Gaylord. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Raymond of Mt. Morris, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Raymond and Gladys Walters Raymond, formerly of West Branch and her brother, Joseph Raymond, formerly of Clio. A casual Memorial Celebration will be held Sunday, June 7 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch. Although not requested, memorial contributions will be accepted by the family for the Blaire Seltz College Fund in order to continue Grandma Marge’s dream to see Blaire into college after high school graduation in 2010.
