Marilyn Jean Hughes

Marilyn Jean Hughes, age 88, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Saginaw, MI. She had lived in St. Helen, MI for the past 33 years, formerly of Troy, MI. Marilyn was born on December 16, 1928 in Detroit, MI to Arthur “Otto” and Amanda (Glanz) Schmelzle. She enjoyed gardening, trips to Vegas, spending time with her family, birdwatching, and feeding the deer.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Thomas Ging of Waterford, MI, Dennis (Lydia) Ging of Clinton Township, MI, David (Angela) Hughes of Macomb, MI, Holly (Marty) Harris of Hemlock, MI, and Kathy (Thomas) Brittain of Oxford, MI; grandchildren, Kelley (Ernest) Purcell, Dayna (Robin) Datta, Kristina Hughes, Tyler Hughes, Anselma Harris, Maria Harris, Joe Harris, Connie (Chris) Sinkus, John (Shanna) Brittain, and Tim Brittain; great grandchildren, Yanni, Lydia, Scarlett, Neal, Julian, Anjoli, Gabriel, Gary, Owen, Lucas, Sophia, Courtney, Camille, Cato, Anakin, Aundrea, Abigail; and great great grandson, Jaxon. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hughes, son, John Hughes, and brother, Arthur.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Rodney Morrison will officiate.
