Margaret I. Durst

Margaret Irene Durst, 94, passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home on Monday, October 11, 2021. Margaret was born to William Bryan and Blanche (Mills) Dill on January 10, 1927 in Bradford, OH. She lived in West Branch the past 17 years, formerly of Ohio and Haddon Twp., New Jersey.

Margaret and John, her late husband of 56 years, moved to Michigan to be closer to son Phil and his wife Carolyn, after having raised their family in New Jersey and then caring for John’s aged stepmother in Ohio. Margaret was a wonderful mother and great friend of many. She and John enjoyed hosting people in their home and were friends and supporters of missionaries. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of West Branch where she served behind the scenes and was an encouragement to many.

Margaret loved to walk and was often seen walking in town until she moved to The Brook of West Branch in 2019. There she continued to walk and enjoyed wonderful care by and camaraderie with the staff and residents.

She is survived by son, Phillip (Carolyn) of West Branch; daughter, Mary of Prescott; grandson, Wesley (Ashleigh) Durst of Blythewood, SC; granddaughter, Katelyn (Jose’) Rivas of Gross Pointe, MI; grandson, Nicholas Snowdon; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Gwen of New Jersey.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John William Durst in 2009, and her oldest son, John Mark.

The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch, MI on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate.
