Lucille A. Ayers

January 13, 1913 — January 24, 2004

Lucille Adella Ayers, age 91, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2004. Born in Cadillac, MI. January 13, 1913 the daughter of Melvin and Ella Lockhart. Lucille was 6 years old when they moved to Eaton Rapids, then to Antrim Co. Lucille had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mancelona since 1960 and a faithful attendant of the First United Methodist Church of West Branch, MI. since 1993. She is also a past member of the Mancelona Eastern Star and the Mancelona Rebecca’s. On September 30, 1928 she married Clifford James Ayers. They lived in Flint, and Gaylord, Michigan in several logging camps. They spent 11 years in East Jordan, MI and 46 years in Mancelona, MI. Cilfford and Lucille shared 64 years of marriage before Clifford passed away in 1993. She then moved to West Branch to live with her daughter Sheryl (Guy) Dean. Left to cherish her memory are Son- Victor (Diane) Ayers of Boyne City, MI; Son-in-law- John (Marge) Spohn of Petoskey, MI; Son- Gerald (Nancy) Ayers of Rockford, MI; Daughter- Gayla (William) Wolf of Quincy, MI; and Daughter- Sheryl (Guy) Dean of West Branch, MI. 20 Grandchildren, 55 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. Also surviving is a Brother-in-law -Clifford “Bud” Ayers of Wixom, MI; and a Sister-in-law –June Boss of Ellsworth, MI. Proceeded in death by Husband –Clifford in 1993 and Daughter Joyce in 1994. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 from 5-9 PM at the Steuernol and McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. There will also be visitation Wednesday from 10:30 to 12:00PM at the Church prior to the Service. The Funeral service will held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Pastor John Spoh will officiate. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona MI. Memorial Contributions may me made to the First United Methodist Church, West Branch, MI.
