Lorn “Bud” Hamilton Jr., age 76, of West Branch passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, MI surrounded by his loving family.
Bud was born on February 20, 1945 to Lorn and Vivian (Lucas) Hamilton Sr. in West Branch, MI. He was a 1963 graduate of West Branch High School. After high school, he joined the Navy and he joined in 1968. He was a Navy Seabee in the Vietnam War. Bud had many jobs he enjoyed throughout his life. He worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy, Chief of Police in Mills Township in the early 1970’s, logging and trucking, master diesel mechanic, dispatcher at Chadwick’s, and owner of Bud’s Radiator Shop in the early 1990’s. He loved construction and running heavy machinery for C. A. Hanes Builders. In the most recent years, he enjoyed helping at the Bennett Farm chopping hay and driving the tractor in the fields.
Bud always loved the outdoors from beaver trapping with his parents to hunting and fishing in the U.P. He passed on those skills to his children. Getting ready for hunting season was his favorite time of the year.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Michelle Hamilton; children, Wendy (Dean) Speer, Jennifer (Pat) Morse, Randy (Carmen) Hamilton, Dustin (Rachael) England, Jessica Raymond, and John (Carrie) Raymond; grandchildren, Ian (Kori) Sawyer, David (Rebecca) Lapoint, Lauren Morse, Jarod Morse, Nicholas Morse, Kayla Morse-McLocklin, Caleb Hamilton, Mark Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton, Isabelle Hamilton, Ryder England, Case Bennett, and Amelia Raymond; great grandchildren, Tyler Sawyer, Ben Lapoint, Ethan Lapoint, Oliver Lapoint, and Natalie Lapoint; his loving sister, Sherry (Ron) Moorhouse; brother-in-law, Rocky England; sisters-in-law, Cheri Hill, Robin Hoyer, and Jean Willis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friend Jake Bortle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Joan (Rajewski) Hamilton, brothers-in-law, Denny Hoyer and BJ Willis, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Mary England.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time per Bud’s wishes.
