Lois I. David, age 94, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. She was born on December 19, 1920 in Detroit, MI.
Lois grew up in Hamtramck, MI, and moved with her family to Lincoln, MI, when she was a teenager. She graduated from Oscoda High School in 1939. She had lived in Prescott, MI since 1951. Lois worked for the Farmers Home Administration during the 1940’s. She worked as a bookkeeper for the State of Michigan for 18 years. She retired from the Department of Social Services in Standish, at the age of 73. After retiring, she went back to the DDS to volunteer. She was a member of the West Branch Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for over 20 years. She was named the WBRMC Auxiliary volunteer of the year in 2011. Lois volunteered in the HIM department at WBRMC until age 93. The ladies in the HIM department were very special to Mom. She really enjoyed being able to work with them and appreciated them being so kind.
Lois enjoyed working, baking, gardening, walking, and playing the piano. She was very competitive in the Fun Runs for quite a few years. She played the piano at her church for several years.
Lois is survived by her four children: Donald (Ruth) David, Prescott, MI, Doris (Roger) Priest Mission, TX, Daniel (Sandra) David, West Branch, MI, Doyle (Kathy) David, Prescott, MI. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Michelle Jacobs (Jason), Donald C. David, Gregory David (Sharon), Sherri Gallagher (Ryan), Cynthia Herndon (Joseph), Deanna David, Dara Frontiera (Pete), Jenny Schmitt (Tyler Hall), Bruce David (Jessica), Deven David (April), Whitney Hughes (Shayne), and Courtney David. Lois was blessed with 18 great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Lois also leaves a sister, Irene Geiersbach of Lincoln, MI, and two nephews and a niece.
Lois is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Meiers, her brother, Herman Meiers, infant sister, Margarite Meiers, and great grandson, Kade Schmitt.
The family would like to thank Hospice Advantage, Compassionate Care, and Leelin Home Health Care. You made it possible to fulfill Mom’s wishes of remaining in her own home. We would also like to thank special people, Arna and Vanessa, for the special care and love you gave our mother these past few months. You hold a very special place in our hearts.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be on Saturday, May 23, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Logan Township Cemetery in Prescott, MI. Pastor Donald Miner will officiate.
The family suggests that any donations be made to the charity of your choice.
