Lillie Fern Vanuden

Lillie Fern VanUden, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch. Lillie was born May 29, 1923 in Oscoda Township as the fourth child to Edward and Grace Roe. Lillie married Allan Harrington and together they raised six children and were blessed with a whole parcel of grandchildren and great, and great great grand kids. Allan passed away in 1980, and Lillie married Otis Long who passed away in 2000. She then married Rudolf VanUden. Lillie is survived by her daughters: Joyce Thompson, Rita Heikura, Maxine Klein, Dana Albers; son, Hugh Harrington; sisters: Beulah Harrington, Westine Lepper; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lillie was preceded in death by husbands, Allan Harrington, Otis Long and Rudy VanUden; son, Charles; grandchildren; Leisa Klein, James Arntz, and Tenika Burns, Parents: Edward and Ella Grace Roe; Brothers: Jay and Fred Roe; Sisters: Winona Redmond and Bernice Lepper. Lillie was an avid card player right up to the end. She enjoyed camping and fishing. Over the years she made a quilt for all of her children and all of their children and children’s children. She enjoyed baking, and family time was of utmost importance. Mom will lay next to Dad at Oak Grove Cemetery in South Branch, Michigan. Visitation will be at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 2:00 – 9:00 PM. Visitation on Wednesday will take place at 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral services at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in South Branch, Michigan. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.
