In Loving Memory of Letcher "Buddy" Scott

Letcher "Buddy" Scott, born on November 30, 1938. He departed this world on January 22, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering positivity. Buddy, a proud descendant of the infamous McCoy/Hatfield feud on the McCoy side, embarked on a remarkable journey that touched the lives of many.

Growing up amidst the hills of Pikeville Kentucky, Buddy ventured to the motor city in search of opportunity. He found a home at Ford Motor Company, where he not only forged a successful career but also discovered the love of his life, Joyce Scott. Their union blessed them with two children, Randy and Michelle.

An avid outdoorsman, Buddy found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. Whether he was hunting in the quiet woods, fishing in the serene lakes, or hitting the links for a round of golf, he embraced every moment with optimism and a sense of adventure. RV travel was another of Buddy's passions, and along with Joyce, he explored the country, creating memories that would last a lifetime and stories that would be retold for generations. Engaging in his community, Buddy became an esteemed member of the Freemasonry, attaining the prestigious 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite. Also, he served many in need through his affiliation in the Shriner's.

After a dedicated career at Ford, Buddy took an early retirement and, along with his wife Joyce, ventured into entrepreneurship, owning and operating "Noah's Sandwich Factory" in Dearborn, Michigan for nearly 20 years. Later in life, Buddy and Joyce embraced the tranquility of lakefront living on Grand Lake in Presque Isle. With his skilled hands, Buddy built their beautiful home, a testament to his craftsmanship and love for his family.

A family man at heart, he was a pillar of strength and support, always ready with a smile to brighten the day or a word of encouragement to lift the spirits. Buddy's contagious smile, infectious laughter, and his unwavering optimism defined him. Generous with his time and resources, Buddy was a man who lived by the principle of giving more than he received. He was a friend to all, embodying a generous spirit and always ready to extend a helping hand without keeping score.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Scott, his son Randal Scott and wife Lana, his daughter Michelle Mathy and husband Rae, and his cherished grandchildren Haley, Austin, and Ashley, sister-in-law Nancy Scott along with numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Buddy was preceded in death by brothers Ralph, Terry, Tom, and sisters Dottie and Linda.
