Leonard “Larry” Lee Pelath, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 peacefully at his home in Gladwin, MI. He was born on June 1, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Leonard Sr. and Mildred (Phipps) Pelath. Larry married Kyong Lee in Korea on July 2, 1968. He had lived in Gladwin since 1996, formerly of York, PA. Larry was a food inspector with the United States Army, retiring in 1984. After his years of service with the Army, he became a civilian food inspector. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #2022, American Legion Post #103, VFW #3775, and D.A.V. Larry enjoyed cars, drag racing, hunting and fishing.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kyong Hiu Pelath; step son, Ki Sik Kim; daughter, Dal Rae Pelath; grandchildren, A Rum Kim, Leonard Kim, and Nalee Kim; nephews, Jeff Pelath and Joel Pelath. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Pelath.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home will begin on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Edwards Township Cemetery. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
