Leona J. Meir, 71, of Rose City died July 25, 2006 at home. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2006 from 1-9 p.m. There will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted by Fr. Miro D. Wiese OFM on Friday, July 28, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Mrs. Meir was born June 3, 1935 in Ogemaw County. She married Fredrick M. Meir on January 10, 1953 in Klacking Creek. Survivors include nine children; Mary Ellen (Daniel) Johnson of Saginaw, Anna Baker of West Branch, Lloyd (Maryann) and Floyd (Sandra) Meir and Teresa Kimbrell all of St. Helen, Susan (Terry) Killinger of West Branch, Paul (Gayle), John and James (Rebecca) Meir of Rose City, 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brother Charles Walters of Prescott; and sister Jacqualine Foster of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick M. Meir, son Mathies Meir, grandson, Matthew Meir, son in law, Michael and her parents, Edward and Bernice Walters.
