Passed away peacefully at age 97. Born in Detroit Michigan to Rubin and Emma (Johnson) Meyers, Dad was the youngest of six children. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as an Oxygen Plant Operator (supplying compressed oxygen to airplanes) in the Army/Air Force with deployment to Guam. Over his lifetime he was a Turret Lathe Operator, Electric Arc Welder, Spot Welder, Store Owner and worked for the City of Detroit in transportation serving as a Bus Driver, Supervisor, and Inspector when he retired.
Dad lived in Michigan (Detroit, Hazel Park, Davisburg, St. Helen), Arizona (Tucson), and most recently Florida (Port Richey). He is survived by his children, Johnny Meyers and Sandra Campbell, and step-daughter Martha Burt. He is also survived by Katie and Kerry Leegan, step-grandchildren he helped to raise. Dad will be missed by his brother-in-law, Chuck Bronson, as well as many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Georgia (Katie) Meyers. Dad was a good soul, a wise man, and was loved by many. He will be missed.
Dad will be cremated and his ashes will be buried in Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen, Michigan, next to his wife, Katie, and near other family members. The date of burial is September 19, 2020, at 11:30 am.
