Leah M. Dowell

Leah M. Dowell, age 96, of St. Helen, passed away with family by her side Thursday, July 9, 2009. Leah had lived in St. Helen since 1973, formerly of Saginaw. Leah was very artistic and enjoyed sewing, painting, and other crafts. Leah is survived by son, Maurice (Bonnie) Dowell of St. Helen, daughter, Dorothy (Carl) Jenkins of St. Helen, nephews, Tom (Betty) Shappee of Saginaw, Ralph (Diane) Shappee of Saginaw, and Sheridan (Pat) Cole of St. Helen. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Leah is preceded in death by husband, Roscoe Dowell, parents, Ralph and Bessie Beythan, and sister, Vera Shappee. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Monday, July 13, 2009 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Dan Stoneback will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Valley Cemetery.
