Lawrence David Watz, affectionately known as Larry, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Essexville, MI at the age of 82. He was born on February 12, 1943, in Saginaw, MI to Richard and Grace (Doyle) Watz. Larry lived a life filled with purpose, love, and dedication to both his family and his community.

For 15 years, he made his mark at Heilman Brewery in Frankenmuth, followed by over two decades as a master electrician, where he owned and operated Watz Electric. His expertise and hard work were not only a reflection of his strong character but also a testament to the passion he held for his trade.

Larry was deeply involved in his community and faith, serving as a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch. There, he shared his knowledge and faith with others, teaching classes and serving as a eucharistic minister, fostering connections that enriched the lives of many.

Having lived in West Branch for 30 years, Larry previously called Millington, MI his home. His military service in the United States Army instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that carried through in all aspects of his life.

When he was not working or serving his community, Larry enjoyed several hobbies and interests. He had a passion for woodworking that saw him create beautiful pieces, and he cherished days spent fishing, golfing, or traveling with his loved ones. Those moments spent surrounded by family and friends were what truly brought him joy.

Larry is survived by his loving sons, David L. (Lisa) Watz of Swanton, OH and Christopher F. (Rebecca) Watz of Bay City; and his devoted daughter, Kerrie L. (Mark) Girard of Scottsdale, AZ. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Ryan, Emily (Joel) Bode, Hailey (Aaron) Miller, David, Brooke (Zach) Berardi, Jacob, and Allyson, as well as his great-grandchildren Jackson, River, and Isabella.

He is also survived by his cherished siblings: Mike (Barb) Watz of Rhinelander, WI; Harold "Bud" (Julie) Watz of Owosso, MI; Pat (Marilee) Watz of Rhinelander, WI; Mary (Lon) Baudoux of Saginaw, MI; Margaret "Peggy" (Dave) Tattersall of Rhinelander, WI and Sue (Richard) Watz of Saginaw, MI. Larry is also survived by many special nieces and nephews who adored him.

Larry rejoins his loving wife, Victoria L. Watz, who preceded him in death in 2018, as well as his parents, brothers Richard and William Watz and sister Michelle “Cookie” Anderson (Watz). Additionally, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Barb Watz, Edna (Dolly) Watz, Marilee Watz and his brother-in-law, Lon Baudoux.
