Kerry Dale Boyd

Kerry Dale Boyd, age 73, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. He was born on May 16, 1947 in Gary, IN to William and Eleanor (Vittetoe) Boyd. He was currently living in Traverse City, formerly of West Branch. Kerry was a Michigan All-Star baseball and football player in high school. He received a scholarship to play football at Michigan Tech but his football career ended his senior year from a knee injury. After raising his girls, Kerry went on to attend Michigan State University where he received a Master's Degree in medical social work. He worked at AuSable Valley Community Mental Health in West Branch as a medical social worker. He enjoyed riding his many Harley's, traveling the United States and golfing. He was extremely proud of a hole in one while golfing at the West Branch Country Club.

Kerry is survived by his daughters, Kara Fachting of West Branch and Krista (David) Haapala of Traverse City; grandchildren, Brandon (Alex) Boyd of Traverse City, Megan and Jack Fachting of West Branch, and William and Karoline Haapala of Traverse City; great grandson, Jace Boyd; aunts, Sharon Schmitt of Portage, IN and Glennis Wickham of Angola, IN; and special cousin, Anne (Dale) Knecht of Montpelier, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, Larry.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service is scheduled at this time.
