Kent Paul Davison entered his heavenly home on December 23, 2024, reuniting with his beloved wife, KayKay. He was born on August 7, 1939, at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, to Kenneth and Eleanor (Wyss) Davison.
Kent spent six formative years at Howe Military Academy in Howe, Indiana, where he excelled both academically and in extracurricular activities. He was an active member of the National Forensic League, contributed to the Tatler Yearbook Board, and sang in the Glee Club. A gifted athlete, Kent played football as quarterback during his senior year and was a skilled shortstop on the baseball team. He graduated in 1957 as a 1st Lieutenant and Company “A” Executive Officer.
Following his time at Howe, Kent attended Wayne State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business with a minor in Marketing. He was also a proud member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
While working as a florist delivery driver, Kent met the love of his life, Kay Judith Wisner, who was modeling wedding gowns at Jacobson’s. The two were married on August 20, 1960, at the First Methodist Church in Jackson, Michigan. Their love story spanned 60 beautiful years and included the joy of raising four children.
In 1973, seeking a small-town life, Kent moved his family from Livonia to West Branch, Michigan, where he took a position at the State Bank of West Branch. He also taught accounting at Kirtland Community College until retiring at 59 due to a car accident that left him unable to continue working.
Kent was deeply devoted to his community. As president of West Branch Little League, he coached with enthusiasm, even drafting the league’s first female player. He and Kay were active members of the Ogemaw Heights Booster Club, and Kent proudly served as the “Voice of the Falcons” for 30 years. He also contributed to the Tolfree Foundation and other community initiatives.
Kent announced the West Branch Fourth of July Parade for many years, served on the West Branch DDA, and spent nearly two decades on the Board of Directors for the West Branch Regional Medical Center, including a term as president. Following a personal family emergency, he led efforts to establish a life-saving helicopter pad at the hospital. His service earned him numerous accolades, including the City of West Branch Man of the Year award and the Tolfree Foundation Shine On award.
Kent’s life was a testament to love, leadership, and service. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his family, friends, and community.
