Kenneth J. Fowler

Kenneth J. Fowler, age 81, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home in West Branch with his family by his side. He was born on November 26, 1937 in Otter Lake, MI to Edward and Elizabeth (Berlin) Fowler. Kenneth lived in West Branch since 1977, formerly of Flint. He graduated from Mayville High School and attended Ferris State. On October 17, 1964 he married Candace Durrenberger in Elgin, IL.

During his lifetime, he worked at the U.S. Steel Company in Gary, IN, was a milkman for Ludwig’s Milk Company, worked construction and worked for General Motors Truck and Bus in Flint. He owned and operated Hanks in Alger for 13 years. Kenneth promoted and helped organize pee wee wrestling in northern Michigan and coached OHHS wrestling for 1 year while he was laid off from GM. He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting and raising Beagles and Brittney Spaniels.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Candace Fowler of West Branch; daughter, Jennifer (Bruce) Eherenberger of Milton, FL; sons, Jeffrey Fowler of West Branch and Scott (Maria) Fowler of Hale; grandchildren, Amanda Hall, Ashley Hall, Amber Fowler, Kyle Fowler and Ryan Fowler; great grandchildren, Michael Galloway, Alissa, Matthew and Joshua LeCour, Bella Simmons, and William Fowler; sisters, Elaine (Chet) Wright of Gladwin, Patricia Chantiny of Caro, and Sherry (Jim) Augustine of Gladwin; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Chuck Fowler.

A memorial service will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Howard Travis will officiate.
