Keith V. Bemis

Keith V. "Red" Bemis, age 83, passed away at West Branch Regional Medical Center on Thursday January 27, 2005. He had lived in West Branch for the past 22 years, formerly of New York. Keith retired from the University of New York at Buffalo. He was a former assistant scout master of Scout Troop #9 of Binghamton N.Y. and the Explorer post advisor. He was President of the Southern Tier Swimming Officials Association and was well known in National Collegiate swimming circles. He also volunteered for the Historical Museum and Hospice of Helping Hands both of West Branch. He was an avid fisherman and storyteller. Mr. Bemis is survived by his wife Genevieve Bemis of West Branch, his son Rod (Eileen) Bemis of Binghamton NY, granddaughters, Christen, Kimberly and Erin, a sister Alyce Block of California and several nieces and nephews. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday January 29, 2005 from 2-5 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the West Branch Regional Dialysis Center.
