Kay Judith Davison

The vivacious and charismatic Kay Judith (Wisner) Davison of West Branch went home to Heaven on September 1, 2020.

KK, as she was known, was born to John “Jack” and Owena Wisner on December 11, 1939. She attended high school and community college in Jackson, where she earned her teaching certificate, later teaching in the Jackson Public School District.

She met the love of her life and future husband, Kent Paul Davison, while modeling wedding gowns for Jacobson’s. The couple were married on August 20, 1960 at the First Methodist Church in Jackson. Kent and Kay had just celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Kay and Kent moved to West Branch in 1973. During her 47 years in Ogemaw County, she was a very active member of the West Branch United Methodist Church, Tolfree Memorial Foundation, and the West Branch Regional Medical Center. She was an avid Detroit Tiger baseball fan, in large part because her father was a professional baseball player for the Pirates, Giants and Cardinals (NL).

Despite her extensive community involvement, Kay was known to express her love of her country with as much gusto as she loved her family. Whether it was cookouts, holidays or just being together, they were everything to her. She had a wicked sense of humor, contagious laugh, and ‘no-hold back’ attitude. KK loved being with her kids, and especially all the grandkids and great-grandkids. Attending her grandchildren’s graduations and weddings were some of the best moments of her life.

Kay is survived by her husband, Kent; Children: Kyle (Amy) Davison of Sugar Land, Texas; Kelly (Jeff) Kimball of Standish; Kevin (Belinda) Davison of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania; and Kristin (William) Sellers of Pace, Florida.

Among her 16 grandchildren are: Ashleigh (Jordan) Kauffman of Sterling; Whitnie (Scott) Nichols of Des Moines, Iowa; Scott (Mackenzie) Kimball of Richmond, Texas; Alex (Ashley) Kimball of Coleman; Bryce (Ashton) Sellers of Pace, Florida; Alec Davison of Sugarland, Texas; Heleanna Davison of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania; Lakyn (Ryan) Smith of Pace, Florida; Chase (Whitney) Sellers of Cheyenne, Wyoming; John Davison of Tampa Bay, Florida; Carly Davison of Houston, Texas; Clare Davison of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania; Joseph Davison of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania; and step-grandchildren Jack, Harper and Beck Brown of Sugarland, Texas.

She had 7 great-grandchildren, which include: Jameson Kauffman, Jenner Kauffman, Mason Smith, Kendrick Nichols, Elliott Kimball, Griffin Smith, and 1 step-great-granddaughter Kylee Holland.

Kay was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Dianne (Bruce) Ambs and Sylvia (Jack) Jessup.

Friends who knew Kay described her as “a force to be reckoned with”, “Sassy but always Classy”, and one who was always “in the know” – if she didn’t know it – it wasn’t worth being known. She was a tremendous woman with a larger than life personality who will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Steuernol McLaren Funeral Homes of West Branch. Cremation has already taken place. KK will be buried in Marshall, Michigan where her parents, grandparents and siblings are all laid to rest. Arrangements for her Memorial will be announced at a later date.
