Kathleen S. Hawkins

November 16, 1924 — October 23, 2004

Kathleen S. Hawkins, age 79 of West Branch passed away at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She had lived in West Branch since 2000, formerly of Alger. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Ogemaw Community Players and the First United Methodist Church. She was the former operator of the Bank Vault Restaurant in Lake Orion, a senior leader in the Civil Air Patrol and the Detroit News Spelling Bee Champion of 1937. In high school she sang operettas and formerly sang with the USO. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, singing, fishing and she sold Avon Products. Kathleen is survived by her children--David (Judith) Hawkins of Toledo, OH, Lee (Bonnie) Hawkins of Columbus, OH, Karen Hawkins (Jessie Hutchings) of Hale and Kevin (Mary) Hawkins of Coral Springs FL. 8 grandchildren, Traci Williams, Michael Hawkins, Michael Semon, Jayson Hawkins, Lauren Semon, Dustin Hawkins, Victoria Hawkins, Zachary Allen and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Maxine (Robert) Rodewig of Mt. Clemens, her brother, Rev. Burton (Marlyss) Harger of Rice Lake WI and her best friend Nancy Hoxie of West Branch. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold T. Hawkins Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday October 29, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to the West Branch Housing Department, 200 S. Valley St. West Branch, MI 48661.
