Karl Henry Rau

August 27, 1940 — September 21, 2016

Karl Henry Rau, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home in West Branch, MI. He had lived in West Branch his entire life. Karl was born on August 27, 1940 in West Branch to Kasimer and Marie (Miller) Rau. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War time. Right out of the Army, Karl worked on his parent’s dairy farm, known as Rau Brothers Farm, on Rau Drive in West Branch. He retired from the farm in 1988. Karl enjoyed the outdoors, was good with animals, always happy and a witty person.

Karl is survived by his children, Shawn (Jeffrey Sr.) Stoner of West Branch, Paul Rau of Traverse City, MI, Kathleen Lynn Rau of Bay City, MI, Amy (Josh) Holmes of Gwinn, MI, Heather (Lloyd) Miles of Gwinn, MI, and Lisa (David) Luster of West Branch; 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Gildner of Cedar City, UT, Jean Berry of Wasilla, AK, and Linda K. Rau of Stanton, OR. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Cody Rau.

A Graveside Service with Veteran Honors will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Edwards Township Cemetery in West Branch.
