Karen Sue Slade

Karen Sue Slade, age 71, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her home in West Branch, MI.
Karen had lived in West Branch since 1981, formerly of Pontiac. She was born on January 17, 1946 to
Florence and Lawrence McKee in Pontiac.

She was a vestry member, sunday school leader,and lay minister at the Trinity Episcopal Church in West
Branch for many years. Karen enjoyed working with seniors at the Ogemaw and Roscommon
Commissions on Aging for over 25 years. She helped start and run the Children’s Community Garden in
West Branch. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also
enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, singing and dancing.

Karen is survived by her husband, Allen Slade of West Branch; daughters, Kasie Garside, Julie (Jeff)
DeColumna, Amanda Slade, & Jennifer (Joe) Rough; and sons Jeffrey Laidlaw, Scott Laidlaw, Artie Slade
and Andy Slade; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, August 22, 2017
from 11:00 am until time of service at 3:00 pm. The Rev. Brian Chace will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging of West Branch or Roscommon.
