Kade Anthony Schmitt, age 8, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Prescott, MI in the loving arms of his mother with his family by his side. He had lived in the Prescott – West Branch area for his entire life. Kade was born to Anthony Schmitt and Jenny (David) Schmitt on August 21, 2006 in Saginaw, MI. He loved all animals, including his sheep, goats, rabbit, puppy, and parakeet. He enjoyed showing his calves and sheep at the Ogemaw County Fair. Kade spent time fishing with his dad and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved music, especially the country music group, Florida Georgia Line and dancing. Kade was a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Raphael was his favorite character. Kade also enjoyed riding his 4 wheeler and getting dirty. His favorite food was a cheeseburger. He was a student at the Charlton Heston Academy in St. Helen, MI where he finished the 1st grade. Kade was known at school for his sense of humor and had received a Snicker Award from his teachers. He also was awarded Student of the Month.
Kade was survived by his father, Tony Schmitt of West Branch and mother, Jenny Schmitt (Tyler Hall) of Prescott; brothers, Kyler and Karter Schmitt of Prescott; grandparents, Doyle and Kathy David of Prescott and Gloria Schmitt of West Branch; great grandparents, Nora David of Marlette, MI and Lois David of Prescott; uncles, Greg (Sharon) David of Prescott and Deven (April) David of West Branch; cousins, Vanessa, Michael and Nathan Noffsinger and Logan Denby all of Prescott, and Grant, Gage, Gavin and Gracie David of West Branch; best friend, Dylan Sharrow; and special persons, Kim Trout, Vanessa Noffsinger, Kayla Marshall, and Mrs. Church and Ms. Miko from Charlton Heston Academy. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bob Schmitt of West Branch.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Selkirk Cemetery. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate.
