Julia “Judy” A. Berg age 75 of Rose City, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at her home after an extended illness. Judy had lived in Rose City since 1988. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, past president of the Kirtland Foundation, also serving on the Kirtland College Board and a member and chairperson of the MARSP (Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel). She earned a BS and MA from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. She retired from Bay Arenac Intermediate School District. Judy loved to quilt and was very proud of the fact that she was from a family of magicians. Survivors include her husband Lorain Berg of Rose City, her sons, Michael (Janice) Berg of Rose City and Steven Berg of Farmington Hills, her grandson, Alex Berg (Barbara Morey) of Indianapolis, IN and her sister, Rita (John) Luks of Perry. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher and three brothers, Andrew, Bruce and Joseph. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1-9 p.m. The Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Rose City. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Lane Heights Cemetery, Lupton. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Endowment Fund, Hospice of Helping Hands, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
