Judy Carrol Curtis

Judy Carrol Curtis was born April 16, 1948, in Millstone, Kentucky, the daughter of Leonard and Ruthal Baker. On August 26, 2015, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Judy Carrol passed away at the age of 67. On December 6, 1969, she married Hubert “Kip” Esty Curtis, who preceded her in death on June 29, 2010. Carrol was the proud owner of Kip and Carrol’s Sports for many years before retiring from both the shop and Chrysler Automotive and moving to the St. Helen, Michigan area where she and Kip began to run and organize pool tournaments all over northern Michigan. Out of all the wonderful things Carrol has done in her lifetime was her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great granny that were most important to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy.

Carrol endured great heartache over the last few years; the loss of her husband, Kip of 39 years and the passing of her beloved son, Jerry Chad Curtis, at the age of 40 years old. Yet through it all, her love and caring for her family remained her focus and in so many ways, she was always able to show that love to us. What a wonderful lesson she gave to us all. Keep your priorities straight, keep that which is most important in focus and most importantly, love and care for your family always. Carrol always kept her faith through all her trials and did so with grace, dignity and a beautiful smile on her face. Her daughter, granddaughter and great grandson are grateful to have been with her as she took her journey home. Heaven so welcomed a beautiful Angel on Wednesday afternoon.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Robyn (Mike) Warden; granddaughter, Kayla Nycole (Ricky) Hurd and the light of her sunshine, great grandson, Jordan Chad Michael. Judy Carrol is also survived by two sisters: Martha Baker and Sindy (Bill) Schermerhorn; Brother-in-law, JD (Debby) Curtis; sister-in-law, Sondra Ison and several nieces and nephews.

A tribute service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Janowiak Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Brown of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of tribute service.

Funeral service will be held Monday, August 31, 2015, at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 702 N. St. Helen Rd., St. Helen, Michigan. The family will receive friends in St. Helen on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen, Michigan.
