Judith Arlene Steele, affectionately known to all as Judy, departed this world on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Dade City, FL, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and dedication that touched the lives of many. Born on July 19, 1940, in Royal Oak, MI, Judy was the cherished daughter of Hubert and Helen (Guerrini) Stinson, paving her path with a spirit of kindness and commitment.
Graduating from Hazel Park High School in 1958, Judy took her first step into the professional world as a secretary at CIT Financial Business in Detroit, MI, where she met her first love, Elmer Madsen. Together, they created a beautiful family in Royal Oak, nurturing their children with devotion and care. Judy's commitment to her family extended beyond home life; she was actively involved with the PTA, passionately advocating for the education and well-being of her children.
In 1976, Judy and Elmer embarked on a new adventure, opening their family business, Hardware Marine & Restaurant, in Clear Lake, MI. The entrepreneurial spirit that defined this period was complemented by Judy's deep involvement in the community. Later, in 1994, she found fulfillment working at a law firm for Doug and Kathryn Root, and she served as a dedicated secretary at WBRC Area Schools from 1985 to 2005, contributing significantly to both the high school and elementary school as well as supporting the principal with her unwavering spirit.
Judy's remarkable personality shone brightly through volunteer work and her hobbies. She volunteered with the American Red Cross and found joy in traveling, sewing, and taking delight in casino trips, but most importantly, she treasured spending time with her family and friends. The warmth she brought into every gathering will be deeply missed.
Judy's legacy lives on through her loving husband, Robert Steele of Dade City, FL, her devoted children: Deborah (Lawrence) Streeter of Royal Oak, MI, Julie Madsen of West Branch, MI, Sandra (Bernard) Madsen-DeRosa of Dade City, FL, and John (Angela) Madsen of Haymarket, VA. Her ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren will carry forward the values she instilled, embracing the love and togetherness that Judy embodied.
She joins those who have gone before her, including her first husband Elmer Madsen, her beloved granddaughter Leslie Jameson, her grandson Kurt Jameson, and her parents Hubert and Helen Stinson. Each of them welcomed her with open arms as she embarked on her next journey.
