Joseph F. Izworski Jr., age 89 of West Branch, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch. Joseph had lived in West Branch since 1954, formerly of Richmond. He was a member of the VFW Post# 3775 of West Branch and the K of C #2033, All Saints Assembly #1745, 3rd and 4th Degree also of West Branch. He was a WWII Veteran, a member of the 27th Division, serving during the invasion of Saipan, Okinawa and Japan. Joe is survived by his wife Loretta of West Branch, children, Joseph (Glenna) Izworski III, George (Sherrie) Izworski, David Izworski, Frank (Becky) Izworski and Marie (Bill) Wilkins all of West Branch and William (Rose) Izworski of Comstock Park. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Michael and a great-grandson Derek William. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2-9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, Joseph will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Patrick Maher will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in the spring.
