Joseph Daniel Barshaw, age 74 of West Branch passed away June 6, 2013. Joseph lived in West Branch since 2006, formerly of St. Clair, Michigan. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest camping, hunting, fishing and traveling over the entire United States. He loved his family and was always willing to share his wisdom with us. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Moose Lodge in West Branch and a member of the K of C #2251 in St. Clair for over 30 years. He was a journeyman tool maker and worked for 42 years in this trade. He was a proud co-owner of Black River Mfg. for several years and retired from BTM Corporation in March of 2002 and moved north to enjoy the tranquility of life. He is survived by Tammy (William) Schneider of Marysville, Brian (Cindy) Barshaw of Algonac, Brenda (Brian) Smith of Curran, Natalie (Andy) Ellis of Cass City, Angel (Robert) Silloway of Lansing, Traci Porter of Traverse City, Cory DeHar of Phoenix, AZ, Todd (Lynn) DeHar of Chelsea, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Wayne (Sherill) Barshaw of Casseville and his sisters, Sue (Gary) Hoover of Richmond and Mary Kay (Mark) Knowlton of Melbourne, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents Andrew and Hazel Barshaw and his brother James Barshaw. Throughout his life he was always supported by his best friend and buddy Milus Allison. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. Deacon Glen Painter will officiate.
