John W. Durst, age 87 passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was born November 17, 1921 in Bradford, Ohio. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years Margaret, his son Phillip, wife Carolyn and grandchildren Wesley and Katelyn. Also his daughter Mary Jane Durst of Collingswood, NJ, and grandson Nicholas Snowdon and wife Shannon and great grandson Gavin of Runnemede NJ. John was predeceased by his oldest son John Mark. John was a veteran of WWII serving in the 729th Railway Battalion and the 9th Division. His work was in the construction and maintenance of Railway Signal facilities and Highway Crossing Protection for over 55 years in 9 states and the District of Columbia. His main interest was in the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially in the field of Missions. With Margaret’s ready efforts it was their privilege and pleasure to provide temporary housing at times for missionarys home on furlough and others in Ministry. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Pastor Landon Teall will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Missionary Fund of Calvary Baptist Church.
