John R. Hilberry

John R. Hilberry, age 87, of West Branch, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He had lived in West Branch since 1974. He retired from the United States Marine Corps on April 1, 1975 after serving in WW II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also involved in several tours with the Naval Reserve. John is survived by his wife, Shizu Hilberry, daughter, Toni Hilberry and granddaughter, Chona Hilberry all of West Branch. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Hiroshi and a sister, Virginia Killinger. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Mary's cardiac care unit for the care given to John, especially Dave and Judy, the Ogemaw County paramedics, Diane Clark for her life saving efforts and to the neighbors on Morrison Street for their care and concern for many years. Friends may call at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday, November 20, 2006 beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. The United States Marine Corp. Honor Guard and the Ogemaw County Veterans Alliance will officiate. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
