John Junior Klann, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his home in West Branch surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 21, 1930 in Flint to John F. and Mary (Buckel) Klann. John lived in West Branch for all of his life. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from July 1951 to June 1953. He married Geraldine Illig in West Branch on February 27, 1954. He worked at Buick in Flint and at Evan’s Bicycle Factory in West Branch. He then retired from Saginaw Steering Gear. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch, Knights of Columbus #2022 - Third Degree, VFW and American Legion. He worked BINGO on Wednesdays at the K of C Hall and enjoyed hunting, fishing, casino trips and camping.
John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Geraldine “Toots” Klann of West Branch; children, John W. (Linda) Klann of West Branch, Jerry H. (Cindy) Klann of West Branch, Bonnie S. (Steve Wiles) Klann of West Branch, Robert J. (Naomi) Klann of San Antonio, TX and Wade P. (Kim) Klann of West Branch; grandchildren, Johnny, Jodi, Mandy, Kelly, Keri, Eddie, Kyle, Steven, Brian, Melissa, RJ, Krista, Kayla, Kortiny, Kaytee, and Kooper; 31 great grandchildren; and brothers, Tom and Mike Klann. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alice and brother, Henry.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with veteran honors.
