John “Jack” Eldred Kinnunen, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had lived in St. Helen, MI since 1996, formerly of Livonia, MI. Jack was born to Yalmer and Lena (Tervo) Kinnunen in Allouez, MI on June 23, 1938. He married Theresa Martin in Detroit, MI on August 15, 1959. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #416 and Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, shuffle board, and watching hockey and baseball.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Theresa “Terri” Kinnunen of St. Helen, MI; sons, Steve (Karen) Kinnunen of Tuscan, AZ and Craig (Dorothy) Kinnunen of Westland, MI; grandchildren, Alec, Zachary, Luke, and Sydney; sister, Eva Paulson of Farmington, MI; brother, Mel (Arlene) Kinnunen of St. Helen, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Eunice Mrosz, Elaine Beaudoin, and Ann Nordstrom.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Rodney Morrison, Pastor will officiate.
