John Anthony Muenz

John Anthony Muenz, age 80 of Prescott, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home. John was born September 21, 1937 to his loving parents John and Thelma Muenz. He married his sweetheart Beverly, on July 28, 1956 in Detroit, MI. John served in the U.S. Navy and was a diver. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the phone company for 35 years until he retired. John enjoyed boating, scuba diving, where he became a PADI master diver, and was also an avid hunter. He was an award winning trap shooter at the Oakland County Sportsman Club. John joined the Knights of Columbus in 1964 and was a 23 year member of the Holy Family K of C Council 8948. He volunteered at the West Branch Regional Medical Center for years and earned volunteer of the year in 2017.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly; sons, John (Robin) Muenz, Douglas (Mary) Muenz, and Scott Muenz; daughter, Deborah Lotan; 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Muenz, sister, Judith and daughter in law, Kimberly Muenz.

Memorial gathering at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 3-8 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service at the church. Deacon Glen Painter will officiate.
